Ethics & standards

Every Daily Network masthead runs against the same editorial code. These are the rules our newsrooms — and the automation that supports them — must meet before publication.

Sourcing

News stories are attributed to a named human source, a named organisation, an on-the-record document, or a verifiable dataset (weather, court lists, transport feeds). We do not publish anonymous claims as fact.

Verification

Facts are cross-checked against at least one independent source before publication. Data feeds (weather, transport, financial) come from named public APIs and are labelled with their source where displayed.

AI & automation

Automated systems help draft, translate and structure stories, gated by automated pre-publication checks with human oversight and spot-checking. A human does not read every story before it goes live; sensitive coverage is prioritised for review. We do not generate photographic imagery: images are licensed, sourced from verified providers, or attributed to a real photographer.

Corrections

Errors are corrected as soon as they are identified. Substantive corrections are logged on our corrections page with the original error, the update, and the date.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made independently of commercial relationships. Sponsored content is labelled as such and is never presented as editorial.
